Best Waterproof Cameras

Some companies claim that their digital cameras are waterproof, yet the moment your camera hits the water it stops functioning. Knowing which digital cameras are best for underwater photography is crucial for you to get that perfect shot. You can take these waterproof digital cameras from 5 feet to 13 feet or more, depending on what type of camera you buy. Which Camera Should I Buy is a great resource to determine which camera you can use under water.

Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, and Kodak are just some brands that make waterproof digital cameras. Fujifilm’s Canon T3i digital cameras can withstand water up to 32 feet. In addition to that, it is also dustproof, shockproof, can also function as an HD video camera, and has a working GPS system – for when you just can’t find your way through that thick seaweed.

Another great waterproof digital camera is Nikon’s D3100. Compared to Fujifilm’s, this is a lot more expensive. You can take with you up to 33 feet underwater and still take great pictures. It has a 16 megapixel CMOS Sensor, 5x Zoom Lens – 28-140mm 35mm Equivalent, 3 inch LCD Display, it’s shockproof for drops up to 5 feet, 1080p HD video recording with with stereo sound, has GPS Data Logging and E-Compass function, it also has a built-in map displayed on LCD, and 20 scene modes including underwater scene action control.

Which Cameras To Buy website has compared these two cameras quite nicely, see here for Nikon D3100 vs Canon T3i comparison review. But waterproof cameras don’t end here, there are other models that can be bought and used for this purpose, however, these two seem to be of the best value.

Olympus’ waterproof cameras can’t reach waters as deep as Nikon’s, but are still great digital cameras nonetheless. Some of their digital cameras have a 3D mode for photos, and some even have an intelligent auto mode.

Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-TS3 is also another waterproof camera. It can reach a staggering depth of 40 feet and even has an altimeter and a barometer.

Sony also offers waterproof cameras. Their slick-designed CyberShot series digital cameras are also waterproof. And like the others, it also offers HD video recording.

But perhaps among all those, sealife’s waterproof cameras are the ones that are able to reach the farthest distance underwater. The DC1400 can reach up to 200 feet underwater. It’s other features include a 14 megapixel CCD Sensor, 5x Digital Zoom for a total of 25x, 6 underwater Color Settings, 4 digital color filters that are built-in, easy piano key controls, and the camera is contained in a rubber armor which can be removed. You can now use your camera on land! A pretty nifty and great camera to use both underwater and on land.

Just be sure to use memory cards that can store a large amount of pictures and videos and you’re good to go. Now no matter where you are, whether you be at land or at sea, you can use your digital camera to take pictures!
